Little Hands, Big Discoveries: Explore Preschool Palette

A story, a garden walk, a chance to make something entirely your own—sometimes, a creative adventure begins with the simplest things.

At Gari Melchers Home and Studio in Falmouth, Virginia, Preschool Palette invites children ages 2–5 and their accompanying adults to explore art together. This year-round program introduces a new theme each month, combining books in the studio, garden walks, and open-ended art activities.

For families, it’s an opportunity to slow down and share the discovery. What catches your child’s attention? Which colors spark a conversation? Where will their imagination take them?

Plan Your Creative Morning

Classes run from 10–11 a.m., with doors opening at 9:45 a.m. Participants meet in the Museum Shop. Admission is $12 per child/adult(s) pair, or $10 for Friends of Belmont.

The adventure can continue afterward with a picnic, scavenger hunt, or exploration of the wooded nature paths. Stairs and uneven terrain mean strollers are not advised.
